Tickets to this thing will cost you just shy of £17,000, so needless to say you're gonna make a serious effort with your outfit. And a little effort definitely paid of for this man. Michael B Jordan rocked up to The Met Gala wearing a Dolce & Gabbana Alta Sartoria suit, with full floral print all the way down to his toes. A modern twist on classic sophistication. In our opinion you can pull any outfit off if you wear it right, a good haircut and beard trim will go a long way but more important than that, is confidence. Confidence is key in life but when it comes to the way you dress confidence really can make an outfit, Michael B Jordan definitely isn't lacking that!
We know this has been a long time coming but as of next week, Tuesday 5th May we will be putting our new appointments system to trial. The online booking system is dead simple and easy to use, once you've booked in and set up your account you're saved, you can choose your service and barber when you book.
As we hope you've noticed we've been stepping the game up lately with loads of new products and tools to make sure we're providing our highest standard of work for every client, this also means we're spending that little bit longer with each of you, which does mean there's going to be a slight price increase. We want to keep providing you all with a quality service and even better cuts, but don't feel that anybody is benefiting from the extended wait times we've seen lately.
The new appointments page will be live from Sunday.
It would be great to get feedback from every body and over the next month or so and work with you all to tweak and change it to suit all.
We're proud to be hosting the infamous Gladstone Pop-up once again with classic cuts, tidy beard trims and a full stock up of Original Layrite. This time we will be at Tattoo Tea Party at Events City. The tea party will have around 350 of the UK's best tattoo artists including our good friends from Heart for Art. All the artists will be working throughout the weekend to display their talent, the theme of the show is honouring the past and celebrating the present. There's food, drink and free dodgems, it is next weekend 28th- 1st tickets are available on the door, we have a limited number of discount weekend tickets availible at the shop for Gladstone clients, they will get you entry for the full weekend for £10. we hope to see plenty of you there!
The official trailer for Straight Outta Compton is here, and it looks awesome! Blunts, 40's and bitches are rife in this short clip. N.W.A pioneered gangsta rap and paved the way for so many hip-hop artists. We especially like the introduction to this trailer, keep an eye out for Kendrick and The Game. Can not wait for this film.
Our snow song and shop favourite comes from a delightful little duo called Oh Wonder. We can see these guys being remixed, a lot. Perfect if you've not gone to work and you're staying in the house all day, enjoy...
Anyone that comes to the shop regularly knows we love J. Cole, this is why. Great story teller and has such good energy on stage, if you get the chance to see him live we fully recommend it. If not give his latest album a listen, you won't be disappointed.
If you're a regular at Gladstone you'll remember Bayan from the beginning, sweeping up and making brews. Over the last Two years he has grown into a charismatic young gentleman and a very talented barber, so we would just like to take a minute to recognise his talent and ambition. Bayan has been on a two day release from school working as an apprentice at the shop, along with working two days a week and holding down a strong mobile client base which keeps him cutting 7 days a week, he trains 4-5 days a week at Bredbury Stockport A.B.C and his boxing career is looking as good as his barbering. So Bayan, thank you, keep up the tremendous work.

So this week J. Cole released the follow up to 'Born Sinner', we've been playing it non-stop in the shop this week. It's great to hear anything fresh from J. Cole and the beauty of this album is that there has been no singles or promo, completely fresh listening. 2014 Forest Hills Drive takes a journey through Cole's life, from the bottom to the top and back to his roots, exploring what happiness really is. He just gets better and better and for us, is one of the few modern rappers we'd give real hip-hop status to. Look forward to the tour.
Loved the song from the release, Nicki showing us she isn't just a pop artist. Her lyric video ha however sparked some controversy over it's reference to Nazi Germany, she has apologised but claims that the inspiration came from Sin City and a Cartoon Network cartoon Metalocaplyse. You can see where the controversy is coming from but we think it's a clever piece of art...
